24th Regiment of Foot Private Williams

The Battle of Rorke's Drift between the British Army and the Zulus was depicted in the film "Zulu" in 1964 starring Stanley Baker and Michael Caine in his first starring role. Michael Caine has appeared in over one hundred films and he is one of few actors to win all four major motion picture acting awards. Several of Caine's classic films have been remade to appeal to new, younger audiences, including "The Italian Job", "Get Carter", and "Alfie". In 2005, he was cast as Bruce Wayne's butler Alfred in "Batman Begins".

Dragon has already done a nice 24th Regiment of Foot Colour Sergeant but has since gone the way of rehashing old parts and throwing it back to consumers as new items. Instead, DiD has taken up the mantle of producing historical figures such as the 42nd Royal Highlander Regiment and Royal Scots Line Infantry Regiment, Samurai Date Masamune as well as some very fine World War II figures as well.

DiD has recently released their 24th Regiment of Foot "Private Williams" and they have given us Michael Caine's headsculpt.

Michael Caine - the sculpt is amazing, especially the skin tone.

24th Regiment of Foot "Private Williams". In the movie, Michael Caine is Lieutenant Gonville Bromhead, a young infantry officer.

DiD got the locket buckle right which Dragon didn't

Amazing attention to details - another great piece of art!

Six sandbags. Those of us who have served NS or who are still serving NS will know that sandbags are a real pain, especially when it comes to defence. More so when you are constructing the BCP and/or BCS; still shudder when I think back to those back-breaking days.

Congrats for the blog! I´ve spent the whole morning surfing it, in my workplace :-)

BTW the pics that DID upload in her webpage showed the colonial uniform with black sleeves, but the final model has them in green (which is more accurate I think), am I right?

Bests,

Jose

Thanks for the compliments, Jose. Glad you enjoyed the site ;)

WOW! You are very sharp about the sleeves. I didn't notice until you mentioned. On closer examination, the sleeves turned out more green in the photos taken than it actually is. The actual product's sleeves are a much darker green, almost black. I actually don't know which is more accurate :(

Yes green is more accurate
