Mattel Killer Moth from "The Batman"

In "The Batman" animated series, Drury Walker and his pet moths were exposed to an unstable chemical the Penguin gang had stolen. His moths died and merged with his skin and mutated into a cocoon, and eventually, Walker was turned into a powerful, gigantic moth monster, similar to the comic book persona Charaxas.

This is the action figure of Killer Moth (as Charaxes) released in 2006 under Mattel's The Batman Shadowtek line. I much prefer the look of this Killer Moth as the original Killer Moth wore a garish costume with striped purple and green spandex, orange cape and a moth-like mask.

When I look at this Mattel Killer Moth figure from "The Batman"animated series, I am reminded of two characters from the movies: one is Jeff Goldblum as Seth Brundle who mutates into "The Fly", a 1986 American science fiction horror film. Another is "Mimic (1997)", directed by Guillermo del Toro and had Mira Sorvino as Dr Susan Tyler, who created the Judas Breed, a large insect (looking like a cross between a termite and a praying mantis). To everyone's horror, they discover that the Judas' new food source is humans, and now the insects have grown to be as big as people and can mimic the appearance and behavior of humans with uncanny accuracy.

The Mattel Killer Moth had only articulation is in his / its shoulders. Even so, I liked the whole look of it. You can see how the rigid wings are pasted on.

The upper body is made from a soft rubber while the arms, legs and head are made from harder, solid plastic.

You are supposed to stick his head underwater, squeeze his torso to fill it up with water, and then squeeze it again to squirt the water out through the hole where the nose is supposed to be but since Drury has mutated, he doesn't have a nose. This is the "action feature" for this action figure.

And here's a comparison of size between the Killer Moth and Batman.
