Hot Toys Berserker Predator, Classic Predator & Royce

All these three characters appeared in the latest Predator film of 2010 aptly called "Predators" directed by Nimród Antal and starring Adrien Brody, Laurence Fishburne, Topher Grace, Alice Braga, Walton Goggins, Danny Trejo, Mahershalalhashbaz Ali, Oleg Taktarov and Louis Ozawa Changchien. It is the fifth film in the Predator franchise, following "Predator (1987)", "Predator 2 (1990)", and the crossover films "Alien vs. Predator (2004)" and "Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (2007)".

The Berserker Predator is identified by an alien mandible attached to its helmet and faces off against Royce in the film's climax. The Classic Predator is designed to resemble the creature in the original Predator film. Royce (Adrien Brody) is an American ex-military soldier turned mercenary who reluctantly assumes leadership of the group of humans stranded on the alien planet.

I wanted to show the size comparisons of Hot Toys MMS (Movie Masterpiece Series) 1/6 scale Berserker Predator, Classic Predator and Royce after having reviewed them all (You can check out the reviews on the left side bar). Scroll down this post for pictures of these three standing side-by-side to get an idea of the size / height differences, in 1/6 scale of course and hopefully, movie-accurate as well.

First up is the picture of the Hot Toys Berserker Predator and Royce side-by-side. You can see that the Berserker Predator is so much taller than Royce, one being almost 14 inches tall whereas Royce is just about 11 inches in height (the term 12-inch figure is just a round-off number because many 1/6 scale human figures are hardly 12 inches tall, even more so if the 1:6 figures are produced by Medicom).

In this Berserker Predator and Royce face-off shot, it really gives you an idea what the movie producers wanted to do with the alien predators. They must be taller and bigger to look more menacing and intimidating.

And here's Royce facing off with the classic Predator. As we learn from Noland (Laurence Fishburne), an air assault soldier who has survived on the planet for years by scavenging and hiding in an abandoned structure, he reveals that the Predators hunt in threes, and that there is a blood feud between the larger Predators and the smaller ones. This is the first time we learn that there are two different tribes of the alien predators.

Here's Royce standing beside the classic Predator. The humans had followed the quadrupeds' tracks to a hunting encampment and found a captive Predator. The producers had deliberately designed the Classic Predator to resemble the creature in the original Predator film. This 1/6 scale version of the classic Predator is in fact based on the one seen in the first film and was released by Hot Toys in 2009.

And here is a picture of the Berserker Predator and Classic Predator side-by-side for a height difference comparison, with the Berserker Predator being the tallest of the predators.

Face-off between the two predators, as it occurred in the film

And here's another look at all three figures from the 2010 American science fiction action-horror film "Predators". We have all seen the four films in the Predator franchise so the producers have to come up with something to make us want to go back and see it again on the big screen. So what they did was give us a new breed of leaner and taller Predator known as the "Black Super Predators" and they had quadrupedal alien animals (like dogs) and a flying reconnaissance drone for hunting.

Here's a shot of the two alien predators together with the three humans who fought them in the films

And this is a shot of the Hot Toys 1/6 scale classic Predator with Private Billy Sole, Major Alan "Dutch" Schaefer, Scar Predator and Royce. They were posted in an earlier post I called "Party of Five (2 Preds + 3 Humans)"

hey joneefubar, I'm not sure how many figures hot toys releases each time. I know that hot toys takes pre-orders so if you have pre-ordered, you are sure to get yours as hot toys only want to produce what people demand so that there isn't an over-supply which then makes the figure depreciate in value.

however, in most cases, many people do not pre-order or are unaware of such a scheme and so when the figure is released, there tends to be an over-demand which leads to sky rocketing prices; that's why hot toys figures command such HIGH prices right after their release

All the BEST in your hunt for the original predator ;)
