Review 1: Easy & Simple (E&S) 1/6th scale Zombie Survivor set (Brad Pitt in World War Z)

This was part of my January 2015 haul (posted in my toy blog HERE)

World War Z is a 2013 American disaster zombie film directed by Marc Forster. The screenplay by Matthew Michael Carnahan, Drew Goddard, and Damon Lindelof is from a screen story by Carnahan and J. Michael Straczynski, based on the 2006 novel of the same name by Max Brooks. The film stars Brad Pitt as Gerry Lane, a former United Nations investigator who must travel the world to find a way to stop a zombie pandemic.

This is the Easy & Simple (E&S) 1/6th scale Zombie Survivor set for 12-inch figures, very much inspired by the movie character Gerry Lane played by Brad Pitt in World War Z. The set does not come with a 12-inch figure body, only the head sculpt and neck connector but that shouldn't be a big issue as 12-inch figure bodies are very easily available these days, with so many options from the different 1:6 scale manufacturers.

The company E&S (Easy & Simple) started out with producing and releasing 1/6 scale weapons and I got the 1/6 Assault Rifle 416 Special Forces set E (Frostbite) not too long ago - see my review HERE. I wanted it to kitbash a 12-inch Snow Trooper with MC Toys 1/6 Snow Space set (see my post HERE). The E&S rifle kit gave me the confidence to try their new product, this 1/6th scale Zombie Survivor set.

Box is straightforward and simple. Nothing to write home about. Just pull out the sleeve to access the goods inside.

All the 1/6 scale accessories and parts are laid out in two foam trays, weapons on top and outfit below.

Easy & Simple (E&S) 1/6th scale Zombie Survivor set for 12-inch figure features: Real Life Like Head Sculpt, Neck Connector, Scarf, Shirt, Combat Pants, Detachable Knee pads, Belt, Tactical Boots, Courier Bag, Fire Ax, Crow Bar, Bolt Cutter, Revolver, G-17 Pistol, Fore Arm Protection (Magazine & Tape)

From left to right: 1/6 scale Bolt Cutter, Fire Ax, Crow Bar

Courier Bag and magazine with sticker sheet. In the movie, Gerry Lane uses duct tape to secure the magazine on his forearm as protection against the zombies. You are supposed to cut the sticker into strips to simulate the duct tape for pasting as shown in the preview pictures (posted HERE).

Close-up of the Tactical Boots. These are hollow boots for the feet to slip into, not the "Boot-feet" aka "beet" first started by Hot Toys

Check out the 1/6 scale firearms. The cylinder of the revolver (Smith & Wessen) can be removed but not the bullets. The Glock 17 pistol is able to have the slide locked back and magazine removed.

Here's 1:6 scale Brad Pitt as Gerry Lane contemplating what he has to do before he sets off. I wanted to show the pants and boots on the figure as well as the revolver and some of the accessories. NOTE: The table, chair and ammo box are NOT included with this set. I thought it'll make for a nicer picture :)

Alex, that actually looks really good! What 1/6th bodies are compatible with a set like this? Or does it come with all the options for you to work with different sorts of bodies?

Hey Kaido, I believe all regular 12-inch figure bodies will do. I picked up a rather generic body (no brand) for this. Set only comes with head & neck connector.

This is awesome! I think selling these kits without a body is perfect and should be done more often. I have so many 1/6th scale figures as it is and these companies can just focus on the head, clothes and accessories.
