Preview Dam Toys 1/6th scale SDU (Special Duties Unit) Assault Team Member 12-inch figure

The Special Duties Unit (Abbreviation: SDU; Chinese: 特別任務連, nicknamed Flying Tigers 飛虎隊) is an elite paramilitary tactical unit of the Hong Kong Police Force. Established in July 1974, it is a sub-division of the Police Tactical Unit (PTU). Its primary functions include counter-terrorism, hostage rescue and dealing with crimes (usually involving firearms) which are considered too dangerous for regular police to handle. The unit was formerly trained by the British SAS before the handover of Hong Kong to China.

The Special Duties Unit consists of a support group, administration group and the action group. The action group is the core of the Unit, further categorised into the assault team and the sniper team. Operation Team, which is divided into Team A and Team B, together with the sniper team. Team C is responsible for the training of Special Duties Unit officers.

It's been a while since a 1:6 scale company / manufacturer decided to produce and release a 12-inch SDU (Special Duties Unit) Assault Team Member. It was many years ago back in 1999 that Dragon Models Limited (DML) released the first 1:6 scale SDU Assault Team Leader 12-inch action figure - reviewed on my toy blog HERE followed by the entire team (see pictures HERE). Hot Toys also released SDU figures back in 2003 - see my action figure review HERE and HERE.

August 2015 Haul #2: Hot Toys 1/6 Commando, Batman, Catwoman, Ultraman and Firefighter

August is almost coming to an end but not before I post my second haul of toys / action figures I managed to grab hold of before the month ends :) This simply translates to more fun stuff to post and more action figures to review on my toy blog. Among the stuff I got are: Hot Toys MMS276 1/6th scale John Matrix Collectible Figure from the 1985 American action thriller movie Commando starring Arnold Schwarzenegger (preview pictures posted HERE), DC Collectibles Batman action figure from The New Batman Adventures animated series, Bandai Ultra-Act X S.H.Figuarts Ultraman action figure and the Playmobil 5367 City Action Special Forces Firefighter figure.

Commando was a box office success grossing over $57.5 million against a $10 million budget. The film debuted at number one on October 6, 1985 in the United States and spent three consecutive weeks at the top position. The original concept was for an Israeli special forces–Mossad agent who, sick of the continual death and destruction in the Middle East, emigrates from Israel to the United States, where he is forced out of his self-imposed retirement after his daughter is kidnapped. This was modified and further adapted when Schwarzenegger was cast; some of the original dialogue can be heard in the deleted scenes when Matrix says he regrets his past actions. Arnold Schwarzenegger portrays Col. John Matrix, a retired Delta Force operator who returns to battle to rescue his daughter who has been kidnapped.

Preview Lightning Toys 1/6th scale Lron Armor Girl Action Figure aka Pepper Potts Iron Woman

Ever wonder what would happen if Pepper Potts had a custom-made Iron Man suit designed for her by Tony Stark, one that would fit the contours of her body and make her an Iron Woman? Well, somebody did (specifically, a 1:6 manufacturer) and decided to release a 1:6 scale Pepper Potts Iron Woman 12-inch figure. What you are seeing is the Lightning Toys 1/6th scale Lron Armor Girl Action Figure, touted as the world's first wearable female Iron Man armor also known as female mechanical battle figure (wearable and pose-able). You can assemble all the armor parts (made of over 30 pieces) on the female figure body. Helmet comes with slide open system to reveal the figure's face underneath.

ACE Girls Mission - Judge Hershey 1:6 scale female action figure was similar in execution. Judge Barbara Hershey is a fictional character in the "Judge Dredd" series that appears in the British comic "2000 AD". You had to assemble the outfit onto the figure with all the components provided - see my toy blog action figure review post HERE.

Comparison pictures of Hot Toys 1:6 scale Black Widow female action figures with Cap and Stark

You can buy the from Sideshow Collectibles

continued from previous post...

Having already reviewed the Hot Toys Movie Masterpiece Series MMS288 "Avengers: Age of Ultron" 1/6th scale Scarlett Johansson Black Widow 12-inch Collectible Figure in my earlier toy blog posts HERE (box packaging and contents) and HERE (Black Widow with her various weapons), I wanted to see how this latest Black Widow compares in terms of size (height) with the other previously released Hot Toys Black Widow action figures. I have the Hot Toys MMS124 "Iron Man 2" 1/6th scale Black Widow Figure (review posted HERE and HERE) and the Hot Toys MMS178 The Avengers 1/6th scale Black Widow Limited Edition 12-inch Female Figure (reviewed HERE and HERE) for comparison, as well as the Hot Toys Collector's Edition MMS92 (Movie Masterpiece Series) 1/6th scale Silken Floss (Scarlett Johansson) 12-inch Female Action Figure (pictures HERE).

I have already posted comparison pictures of Hot Toys 1:6 scale Catwoman (Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle from "The Dark Knight Rises") with Black Widow, Batman Returns Catwoman and Batman in an earlier toy blog post HERE. There is a distinct height disparity between Catwoman and Black Widow. I guess that's because Anne Hathaway is 1.73m tall (5 ft 7 in) while Scarlett Johansson's height is 163 cm or 5 ft 4 in. I think Hot Toys is trying to stay true to scale in terms of the actor's height. That's nice to know but it wasn't always so. Hence this post to show the differences in height of Hot Toys female action figures in relation to each other and where Black Widow stands with Captain America and Tony Stark.

Check out Pangaea PG04 - 1/6th scale French Crusader General - Balian 12-inch action figure

The Crusades were military campaigns sanctioned by the Catholic Church in the Middle Ages. Pope Urban II proclaimed the First Crusade in 1095 with the stated goal of restoring Christian access to the Holy Land leading to an intermittent 200-year struggle. Crusade is a modern term derived from the French croisade and Spanish cruzada and by 1750, the various forms of the word "crusade" had established themselves in English, French, and German. When a crusader swore a vow (a votus) to be fulfilled on successfully reaching Jerusalem they were granted a cloth cross (crux) to be sewn into their clothes. This "taking of the cross", the crux, eventually became associated with the entire journey. They saw themselves as undertaking an iter, a journey, or a peregrinatio, an armed pilgrimage.

This is the upcoming Pangaea PG04 - 1/6th scale French Crusader General - Balian 12-inch figure which will feature: Detailed sculpted head with synthetic hair wig; every piece is professionally hand painted. ACI Medium Built Body "Christian", new improved version, over 30 points of articulation. 5 interchangeable gloved hands in various poses (3 left gloved hands and 2 right gloved hands), Cloak, Surcoat, Tunic, Breeches, Handmade fabric boots with spurs, Norman conical helmet (die-cast metal), Chain mail hauberk and chain mail coif (plastic), Chain mail chausses (plastic), Great sword (die-cast metal blade) with scabbard and baldric, Shield with holding straps

VERYCOOL (VCF-2026) 1/6th scale ACU Camo Female Shooter is 12-inch Megan Fox figure

Why do most 1:6 scale manufacturers continue to produce 12-inch female figures that are unrealistic to the theme? Case in point: these latest preview pictures of VERYCOOL (VCF-2026) 1/6th scale ACU Camouflaged Female Shooter showing a rather nice female figure in military gear. On closer examination, it is revealed that she is wearing very little on top. Too little to afford her any protection from the chilly weather or other elements that she may encounter in the field. Is it because 1:6 scale figure makers feel the need to pander to the very much male dominated military figure collector market? Why not give the poor girl more clothes to put on and let the individual 12-inch figure collector decide whether he wants to keep her top on as it is or cut off some of the top to make her look more sexy (and unrealistic). I would have been on this like a heartbeat if not for the itsy bitsy tiny weeny little top. This is made all the more poignant in the same week when for the first time in military history, two women graduated from the excruciating 62-day Ranger School at Fort Benning.

VERYCOOL (VCF-2026) 1/6th scale ACU Camo Female Shooter will come with Real Like Rooted Hair Head Sculpt (looks a bit like Megan Fox, who shot to fame as Mikaela Banes in the 2007 blockbuster action film Transformers), VC 3.0 Large Bust Female Body (Soft Breasts), Sunglasses, Wrist Watch, Black Beanie Hat, Middle East Scarf, ACU Camo Shirt, ACU Camo Tactical Pants, PVC Knee Pads, Waist Belt, Military Boots, M4 Assault Rifle, M4 Grab Handle, M4 Flashlight, M4 Rifle Telescope, P226 Pistol, Pistol Mag, Pistol Holster, Climbing Buckle, Earphone + Intercom, Infantry Pack, GP Pouch, Cartridge Recycling Bag, Three Pairs of Hands and 3 Gloved Hands.

HYTOYS 1/6th scale HK CID Senior Inspector 12-inch figure is Donnie Yen from Sha Po Lang

Donnie Yen Ji-dan (born 27 July 1963) is a Hong Kong-based Chinese martial artist, film director and producer, action choreographer, and world wushu tournament medalist. Yen is credited by many for contributing to the popularization of the traditional martial arts style known as Wing Chun. He played Wing Chun grandmaster Ip Man in the 2008 film Ip Man, which was a box office success. This has led to an increase in the number of people taking up Wing Chun, leading to hundreds of new Wing Chun schools to be opened up in mainland China and other parts of Asia. (source: wiki)

Yen is considered to be Hong Kong's top action star; director Peter Chan mentioned that he "is the 'it' action person right now" and "has built himself into a bona fide leading man, who happens to be an action star." Yen is widely credited for bringing mixed martial arts (MMA) into the mainstream of Chinese culture, by choreographing MMA in many of his recent films. Yen has displayed notable skills in MMA, being well-versed in boxing, kickboxing, taekwondo, Muay Thai, wrestling, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, Wing Chun, and Wushu.

SPL: Sha Po Lang is a 2005 Hong Kong-Chinese action film written and directed by Wilson Yip, starring Simon Yam, Donnie Yen and Sammo Hung. Yam portrays a retiring police detective who resorts to the use of questionable methods in order to catch Wong Po (Hung), a ruthless triad boss. The title Sha Po Lang refers to three words derived from Chinese astrology that each represent a different star capable of good or evil depending on their position in the heavens.

Hot Toys Avengers: Age of Ultron 1/6th Scarlett Johansson Black Widow 12-inch Figure Review II

You can buy this from Sideshow Collectibles

continued from previous post...

The previous Hot Toys 1:6 scale Black Widow collectible figures all had minimal accessories. This recently released Hot Toys Movie Masterpiece Series MMS288 "Avengers: Age of Ultron" 1/6th scale Scarlett Johansson Black Widow 12-inch Collectible Figure doesn't suffer the same fate. In my second part action figure review of Hot Toys AOU (Age Of Ultron) Black Widow figure, I'm showing her with all the different weapons she comes with. For the box packaging and contents, you can check out my earlier toy blog post review HERE.

First off, there are the pair of 1:6 scale real-like electric shock effect accessories that come with the figure which you slip onto her pair of red-colored wrist guards with Widow’s Bite bracelets. I also switch out the pair of relaxed hands to the fists that were also included. A pair of palms for holding her weapons, and a pair of hands for holding her batons are included as well. There's a push dagger (alternately known as: push knife, gimlet knife, fist knife, push dirk, T-handled knife or punch dagger) attached to her belt. The push dagger is a short-bladed dagger with a "T" handle designed to be grasped in the hand so that the blade protrudes from the front of one's fist, typically between the index and middle finger. The push dagger is popular as a close-combat weapon for civilians and selected military forces. Unfortunately, this particular push dagger is molded together with the sheath and is non-removable. The ones included with 12-inch military figures are removable and Hot Toys should have made it so.

Review 1: Hot Toys Avengers: Age of Ultron 1/6 Scarlett Johansson Black Widow 12-inch Figure

You can buy this from Sideshow Collectibles

Black Widow (Natalia Alianovna "Natasha" Romanova, also known as Natasha Romanoff) is a fictional superhero appearing in comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character was first introduced as a Russian spy, an antagonist of the superhero Iron Man. Black Widow trained as a spy, martial artist, and sniper, and was outfitted with an arsenal of high-tech weaponry, including a pair of wrist-mounted energy weapons dubbed her "Widow's Bite". She later defected to the United States, becoming an agent of the fictional spy agency S.H.I.E.L.D., and a member of the superhero team the Avengers.

In March 2009, Scarlett Johansson signed on to play Natasha Romanoff / Black Widow in multiple films, beginning with 2010's Iron Man 2. Since then, Scarlett Johansson has portrayed the character in the films Marvel's The Avengers (2012), Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014), and Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) and is set to reprise the role in Captain America: Civil War (2016) as a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise. Hot Toys has released every Black Widow action figure from the films, starting with Scarlett Johansson's appearance as Black Widow in Iron Man 2 (2010) to the most recent Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015). Altogether four 1:6 scale Black Widow figures have been released.

This is the recently released Hot Toys Movie Masterpiece Series MMS288 "Avengers: Age of Ultron" 1/6th scale Scarlett Johansson Black Widow 12-inch Collectible Figure which was part of my August 2015 haul (posted on my toy blog HERE). This is the fourth Black Widow figure Hot Toys has released and I will be covering this femme fatale as part of my action figure review.

HingSan Wolverine Collectible Light with 1:1 scale claws - now you can be Wolverine too!

This is the HingSan Wolverine Collectible Light with 1:1 scale Wolverine Claws classified as Movie Props and Replicas which I got in earlier this month (see my August 2015 haul HERE). It's one of those few 1:1 scale stuff I own because most of these 1:1 scale movie props are just too expensive for my liking and I would rather spend on 12-inch figures as I get more satisfaction out of them than props and life-size replicas. Plus 1:1 scale items will take up a lot more space and I feel they are best suited for those who are into cosplay and costumes which I am not. Still I couldn't help myself when I saw this Wolverine Collectible Light with 1:1 scale Wolverine Claws because most importantly it wasn't expensive (anything that costs a lot less than a Hot Toys figure isn't considered expensive and this Wolverine Collectible Light with 1:1 scale Wolverine Claws is only half the price of a Hot Toys figure LOL) plus it can be used as a light decor, collectible display, conversational piece and the best part is, the claws are removable for cosplay. It all sounds too good to be true but because my retailer was bringing it in, it has to be real!

The 1:1 scale Wolverine Claws are painted to look metallic and can be removed for cosplay or just used for fooling around as it fits in between the fingers and makes you look like Wolverine from the X-Men films. The Wolverine claws can be placed back in the holder / recess when not is use. This is a Marvel licensed product made from ABS with LED light up features. Dimensions: 348.5mm x 301mm x 83mm

Review III: Virtual Toys 1/6th Weapon Advisor 12-inch Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox figure

continued from previous post...

This is my third-part action figure review post of Virtual Toys 1/6th scale Weapon Advisor which is essentially a 12-inch Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox figure as seen in the Christopher Nolan Batman trilogy. The boxed set specially features: 1/6th scale Head sculpt, 12-inch action figure Body, Blue shirt, sweater, Blue suit, Brown coat, Beige slacks, Bow Tie, Brown belt, Brown scarf, Brown boots, Six hands, Glasses, Silver Pen, Clipboard with Paper, Newspaper, Map, The BAT blueprint, and Military computer. I've already covered the box packaging and content in the first-part review posted on my toy blog HERE where I stripped the figure down to his "fat" suit which gives this figure a paunch to be movie-accurate. Close-up pictures / views of the Virtual Toys Weapon Advisor 1/6th scale head sculpt were also shown as well as the very cool looking Wayne Enterprises Applied Sciences Division military computer / laptop with nice details and a sturdy construction.

Like I said before, if Hot Toys isn't going to do it, then you can bet someone else will – FigureMasters will be releasing a 1/6th Sir Patrick Stewart as Professor X 12-inch Collectible Action Figure (posted earlier HERE) and Figure Club has already released a 1/6th scale The League of Shadows "Ducard" Ninja Shadow Master figure which I reviewed HERE and HERE.

This final review shows the 12-inch Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox figure wearing the Brown coat and Brown scarf as he goes to the office in chilly Gotham weather, carrying his military computer, clipboard and newspaper.

Check out this upcoming Worldbox "Resident Evil 3: Nemesis" 1/6th scale Nemesis creature - RUN!

Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, known in Japan as Biohazard 3: Last Escape, is a survival horror video game developed by Capcom and originally released for the PlayStation video game console in 1999. It is the third instalment in the Resident Evil video game series and takes place before and after the events of Resident Evil 2. The story of the game follows Resident Evil protagonist Jill Valentine and her efforts to escape from a city that has been infected with a new type of biological weapon secretly developed by the pharmaceutical company Umbrella.

Resident Evil 3: Nemesis features a larger number of enemies for the player to defeat and introduces the eponymous Nemesis creature (also called the Pursuer or Chaser), which periodically pursues the player from one area to the next until the end of the game. Besides Resident Evil 3, it is also featured on various merchandise and in the 2004 film Resident Evil: Apocalypse.

In the series' story, the Nemesis is the result of infecting a Tyrant — a humanoid bio-weapon created to be the ultimate life-form — with a parasitic organism designed to increase its intelligence. Upon infection, the parasite takes control of the Tyrant's nervous system, forming its own brain and enabling it to follow precise instructions and make decisions without a need for constant direction. Clothed in black trousers, an overcoat, boots, and gloves, the Nemesis is armed with a rocket launcher mounted on its left arm. To emphasize its design as a prototype, the game developers left exposed muscles on its body and added stitches to cover the right eye.

Numerous media outlets have cited the film as a turning point in Neeson's career that redefined and transformed him to an action film star.

Bryan Mills (Liam Neeson), a former government operative, is trying to reconnect with his daughter, Kim (Maggie Grace). Then his worst fears become real when sex slavers abduct Kim and her friend shortly after they arrive in Paris for vacation. Kotobukiya Marvel Now! Magik ARTFX+ Statue

Kotobukiya’s hit line of Marvel Comics Avengers ARTFX+ Statues paved the way for the next incredible comic-based series in this great scale, the X-Men of Marvel Now! In 2012 the comic book company relaunched several titles, shifting some characters into different books and updating some for a modern audience. More than anything, it provided a perfect jumping on point for new readers. Now the characters are brought to life as never before based on concept artwork by superstar artist Adi Granov, who was also responsible for the Avengers series. Joining previously released Cyclops, Emma Frost, and Magneto is the team’s teleporter and sorceress Magik!

Magik was introduced in Marvel Comics in 1975, but back then she was just Illyana Rasputin, the kid sister of Piotr Rasputin (better known as Colossus). Illyana is a mutant as well with the power to teleport herself and others. As if that wasn’t cool enough, she also became a powerful sorceress thanks to her connection to Limbo and wields the mighty Soulsword!

Magik takes her place among Cyclops’ team of fearless X-Men with a stunning new look, standing at attention and letting her massive sword do the talking. She is posed dynamically with her feet spread apart, her hands laid on top of the pommel of her Soulsword stuck into the ground before her. The eldritch mutant wears a unique costume consisting of thigh high leather boots, short shorts, a halter top with armored shoulders, armbands, and gloves. Her highly detailed sculpt brings out all of the cool little elements of her clothing like the buckles on her footwear, the spikes and armored fingers of her left arm, and the shafts extending from hair. Magik’s costume is almost all black with silver accents and the red “X” on her shoulder, all of which contrasts nicely with her pale skin, blonde hair, and solid white eyes. Meanwhile, her Soulsword radiates with an intense yellow energy.

Steampunk refers to a subgenre of science fiction and sometimes fantasy that incorporates technology and aesthetic designs inspired by 19th-century industrial steam-powered machinery.[1][2] Although its literary origins are sometimes associated with the cyberpunk genre, steampunk works are often set in an alternative history of the 19th century's British Victorian era or American "Wild West", in a post-apocalyptic future during which steam power has maintained mainstream usage, or in a fantasy world that similarly employs steam power. It may, therefore, be described as neo-Victorian.

Through generations, there has always been a force of justice that agents of crime, chaos, and evil have contended with. Every incarnation of Batman that existed throughout time stood as a beacon of hope and a reflection of the age it is a part of. Inspired by the fantastic sci-fi subgenre of steampunk, the Variant Play Arts KAI welcomes a new Batman to the fold.

Batman Timeless is the Play Arts Variant line of redesigned Batman figures. Each one is based on either a specific designers vision, or an interpretation of how a Batman would have appeared in a historical setting. The latest entry in the line is the Play Arts Variant Steampunk Batman, a 19th century Victorian-era styled Batman. Multiple gears and cogs can be seen through a transparent piece in the chest armor, and burnished bronze metallic color is used throughout. This figure has a dignified, almost classical aura, emphasized by a five-layer structure of the cape which hearkens back to designs by da Vinci. The redesigned 19th century themed Batman includes a crossbow styled grapnel gun, a few interchangeable hands and a figure stand.

Virtual Toys 1/6th scale Weapon Advisor 12-inch Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox figure Review II

continued from previous post...

Here are more pictures and action figure reviews of the Virtual Toys 1/6th scale Weapon Advisor 12-inch Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox figure. With so many nifty and interesting accessories included with this boxed figure set (see the part one action figure review posted on my toy blog HERE), I just had to create some simple scenes and take pictures. It was FUN :)

The earlier post showed Lucius Fox (Morgan Freeman) without his glasses on so in this second-part review, I wanted to show pictures of the Virtual Toys Weapon Advisor 12-inch figure wearing the 1/6th scale gold frame glasses he comes with, as well as pictures of him holding the silver fountain pen and clipboard with paper.

Morgan Freeman is such a fine actor. Besides having received Academy Award nominations for his performances in Street Smart, Driving Miss Daisy, The Shawshank Redemption and Invictus, and won the Best Supporting Actor Oscar in 2005 for Million Dollar Baby, he has also won a Golden Globe Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award. Freeman has appeared in many other box office hits, including Unforgiven, Glory, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, Seven, Deep Impact, The Sum of All Fears, Bruce Almighty, Along Came a Spider, The Dark Knight Trilogy, March of the Penguins, The Lego Movie, and Lucy. He is known for his distinctively smooth, deep voice.

And that's a great thing about this figure. It's so generic that he can be some of the characters he has played in his acting career and not necessarily just be Lucius Fox, the supplier of Batman's arsenal although that is the intent of this figure released by Virtual Toys, the movie arm of Dam Toys which deals more with 12-inch military figures and stuff.

COOMODEL X OUZHIXIANG 1/6th Monster File Series Second Bombs - The Were Wolf figure

A werewolf, also known as a lycanthrope (from the Greek lykos for "wolf", and anthrōpos for "man"), is a mythological or folkloric human with the ability to shapeshift into a wolf or a therianthropic hybrid wolf-like creature, either purposely or after being placed under a curse or affliction (e.g. via a bite or scratch from another werewolf).

Most modern fiction describes werewolves as vulnerable to silver weapons and highly resistant to other injuries. The first feature film to use an anthropomorphic werewolf was Werewolf of London in 1935. The main werewolf of this film is a dapper London scientist who retains some of his style and most of his human features after his transformation. A more tragic character is Lawrence Talbot, played by Lon Chaney, Jr. in 1941's The Wolf Man. With Pierce's makeup more elaborate this time, the movie catapulted the werewolf into public consciousness.

COOMODEL X OUZHIXIANG 1/6th Monster File Series Second Bombs - The Were Wolf figure features: Head sculpt, Body, Shirt, Jeans, Shoes, Jacket, Backpack, Hat, Hand x8, Wolf head, Wolf claw x3, Wolf arm x2, Wolf leg x2, Wolf foot x2, Wolf neck, Platform, Doll

A peak at Bandai Star Wars Movie Realization 7-inch tall Ronin Kenzan Boba Fett action figure

The latest character to be added to Bandai’s expanding line of Japanese themed Star Wars Movie Realization action figure toys is Boba Fett and he’s now become a ronin. Bandai artist Takeyuki Takeya has re-designed and re-imagined a variety of famous Star Wars characters set in a feudal Japan.

Bandai Star Wars Movie Realization continues with their Japanese armor styled reinterpretations of classic characters with Boba Fett, now dressed as a wandering ronin warrior. There are actually quite a lot of Japanese influences at work in the original Star Wars. From things like the name for Jedi coming from the Japanese word for period drama, that of jidaigeki, to all manner of nods to the films of Akira Kurosawa as well as the designs for a lot of the costumes much of what made Star Wars had a clear and somewhat traditional Japanese twist to it. So it does make sense that you could re-purpose the original character designs from Star Wars into a feudal Japanese setting.

This mash-up of everyone's favorite bounty hunter from a galaxy far, far away and that of a masterless samurai is so good it makes me want it so bad. All the little rivets, the fine details, the shape of the metal plating makes me want to add this to my collection right now! It's really a stunning rendition of Boba Fett variant. Simply jaw dropping! This famous bounty hunter (Bandai Star Wars Movie Realization Ronin Kenzan Boba Fett action figure will be approximately 170mm tall) is equipped with a more ornamental looking jet pack (removable), a small sword, several knives / tools attached to his calves (detachable), a flintlock blaster and an assortment of hands. The scope on his helmet is movable too.

Review 1: Virtual Toys 1/6 scale Weapon Advisor 12-inch Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox figure

This was part of my July haul (posted on my toy blog HERE)

Lucius Fox is a fictional character appearing in Batman comic books by DC Comics. He was created by John Calnan, and first appeared in Batman #307 (January 1979). As a supporting character, he acts as Bruce Wayne's business manager who supposedly unknowingly runs the business interests that supply Batman's equipment needs as well as financing his operations. Lucius Fox has been featured in various media adaptions, most notably by Morgan Freeman in the Christopher Nolan Batman films.

In Batman Begins, Fox is a research head and friend of Bruce Wayne's late father Thomas Wayne who is demoted by Wayne Enterprises CEO William Earle to the Applied Sciences division, which involves overseeing the supplies of Wayne Enterprises' aborted research projects and prototypes. Upon returning to the business, Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) strikes up a fast friendship which allows him to all but recruit Fox as his armorer for his Batman activities.

This is a action figure review post of Virtual Toys 1/6th scale Weapon Advisor which is essentially a 12-inch Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox figure. The boxed set specially features: 1/6th scale Head sculpt, 12-inch action figure Body, Blue shirt, sweater, Blue suit, Brown coat, Beige slacks, Bow Tie, Brown belt, Brown scarf, Brown boots, Six hands, Glasses, Silver Pen, Clipboard with Paper, Newspaper, Map, The BAT blueprint, Military computer.

Happy National Day with the Black Knights, Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) aerobatics team

Happy National Day!

It's SG50 which is Singapore's 50th Birthday! This little red dot has certainly come a long way from its kampong days. To celebrate our nation's Golden Jubilee, I'm posting these pictures taken by The Straits Times Alphonsus Chern on my toy blog to share how awesome these pictures are :) You can see more pictures and the full article posted on The Straits Times website titled "Trailing the Knights" HERE

These are the Black Knights – the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) aerobatics team. First formed in 1973, the team pulls together some of the best fighter pilots in the service to perform at air shows, and this year in particular, at Singapore’s Jubilee weekend celebrations. Only flying instructors with at least 500 flying hours are eligible to make this year’s team, the 14th in the RSAF’s history.

Formed just six months ago, they train five days a week, practising over the Southern Islands. Unlike many aerial display teams, such as the Royal Air Force Red Arrows and the Patrouille de France, the Black Knights are not a permanent or full-time show.

The eight aircraft (two spares), six pilots and 50 ground crew are drawn from combat-ready squadrons and can be returned to operational duties at a moment’s notice. Because of this, the Black Knights fly unmodified front-line fighters, the F-16C Fighting Falcons, but painted in red-and-white livery featuring the crescent moon and five stars – symbols on Singapore’s flag.

REDMAN TOYS 1/6th scale Cowboys G, B and D are The Good, the Bad and the Ugly figures

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly is a 1966 Italian epic Spaghetti Western film directed by Sergio Leone, starring Clint Eastwood, Lee Van Cleef, and Eli Wallach in the title roles respectively. The film is known for Leone's use of long shots and close-up cinematography, as well as his distinctive utilization of violence, tension, and stylistic gunfights. The plot revolves around three gunslingers competing to find fortune in a buried cache of Confederate gold amidst the violent chaos of the American Civil War (specifically the New Mexico Campaign in 1862), while participating in many battles and duels along the way.

In the Southwest during the Civil War, a mysterious stranger, Joe (Clint Eastwood), and a Mexican outlaw, Tuco (Eli Wallach), form an uneasy partnership -- Joe turns in the bandit for the reward money, then rescues him just as he is being hanged. When Joe's shot at the noose goes awry during one escapade, a furious Tuco tries to have him murdered. The men re-team abruptly, however, to beat out a sadistic criminal and the Union army and find $20,000 that a soldier has buried in the desert.

Clint Eastwood is "Blondie" (a.k.a. the Man with No Name): The Good, a subdued, cocksure bounty hunter who teams with Tuco, and Angel Eyes temporarily, to find the buried gold. Blondie and Tuco have an ambivalent partnership. Tuco knows the name of the cemetery where the gold is hidden, but Blondie knows the name of the grave where it is buried, forcing them to work together to find the treasure. In spite of this greedy quest, Blondie's pity for the dying soldiers in the chaotic carnage of the War is evident. "I've never seen so many men wasted so badly," he remarks. He also comforts a dying soldier by laying his coat over him and letting him smoke his cigar.

August 2015 Haul: Boba Fett, 1:6 Black Widow, Gladiator General and Wolverine Collectible Light

This weekend in Singapore is called the Jubilee Weekend because our country is celebrating its 50th Birthday. On 9th August 1965, Singapore separated from the Federation of Malaysia and became an independent country. And we haven't looked back since as our tiny nation (a little red dot) progressed and grew to what it is today, a David among many Goliaths! And we have triumphed :)

It's because of Singapore's growth and economic / financial standing that I can indulge in my hobby of toy collecting. The stable economy with ample job opportunities and strong Singapore dollar makes it easier on the pocket when it comes to buying toys and action figures. Our strong infrastructure connects us with a network that is secure and fast so that I can share and blog about toys and action figures from my safe and comfortable home. Not having to worry about where my next meal is going to come from, protected from almost all major natural catastrophes (earthquakes, tsunami, volcano eruptions, hurricanes / cyclones / typhoons etc) and being able to live at peace in a multi-racial, multi-cultural society all adds to a very conducive environment for a thriving market which lets me enjoy my hobby. Being close to China also means that we get our toys and figures first before most people (except Hong Kong). What a blessing it is to be a Singaporean and I am very proud to be one!

It's a time for celebration and what better way to celebrate the occasion for a Singapore born and bred toy collector and blogger than to collect MORE toys / action figures and share my haul with the rest of the world LOL

So let me share with you my haul for August 2015 so far: there's the Square Enix Play Arts Kai Star Wars Variant 1:7 scale Boba Fett action figure, Hot Toys "Avengers: Age of Ultron" 1/6th Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow 12-inch Collectible Figure, Pangaea Toy 1:6 scale Russell Crowe as Gladiator General Maximus 12-inch Figure (Arena version) and 1:1 scale Wolverine Collectible Light.

Review Medicom RAH Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol 1/6th Ethan Hunt 12" Collectible Figure

Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions’ Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation, the 5th installment in the $2.1B franchise, took flight overseas on Thursday with rollout beginning in such key markets as Korea, the UK, Mexico and Australia. The opening gross through Friday is a muscular $26.4M and the offshore frame is on track for about $60M. Coupled with an expected domestic debut of $52.5M, Rogue has lit the fuse towards a $112M opening worldwide session. In total this weekend, Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt is tackling The Syndicate in 40 markets repping about 40% of the international footprint — in 20 of those markets, Rogue Nation is the star’s best bow ever.

In comparison, the last film in the M:I franchise, Ghost Protocol, was Cruise’s biggest ever offshore hit with over $485M. It took over $50M in Korea which was the title’s 3rd biggest market outside the U.S. 53-year old Cruise can play Ethan Hunt for as long as he cares to risk his life with stunts no other superstar would dare try. For Rogue Nation, he was strapped to the exterior door of an airborne jet plane, and everyone in the cast and crew prayed that he would be still tethered when the take is done and the plane lands. For Ghost Protocol, Tom had no qualms about scaling 124 floors outside of the Burj Khalifa tower in Dubai UAE, which is the world's tallest building, without the use of a stunt double.

This is the Medicom Toy RAH (Real Action Heroes) 1/6th scale "Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol" Ethan Hunt 12-inch Collectible Figure released in 2013. This figure retailed at USD$299.99 and has sold out at Sideshow Collectibles but I managed to snag one for just USD$110 which is the price I'm most willing to fork out for a Medicom Toy figure. Medicom Toy figures have always been expensive and IMHO they are not even value-for-money when you compare them with Hot Toys figures although I have amassed quite a number of Medicom Toy figures in my toy collecting journey. In my defence, that was before Hot Toys were even in the market and at the time, Medicom Toy was the only company producing 1/6th scale movie-related merchandise / collectible for adults.

Hot Toys 1/6th scale RoboCop (die-cast & battle damaged) comparison pictures (+ Alex Murphy)

continued from previous post...

After having reviewed both the Hot Toys MMS266 1/6th scale RoboCop (Battle Damaged Version) - posted earlier on my toy blog HERE and HERE - and Alex Murphy Collectible Figure - Murphy reviews posted HERE and HERE, it's time to show some comparison pictures together with the earlier released Hot Toys MMS202-D04 1/6th scale Die-cast RoboCop Collectible Figure (reviewed HERE, HERE and HERE). According to the instruction sheet, the battle-damaged RoboCop parts are interchangeable with die-cast RoboCop parts. The problem is that they don't match in terms of color / texture (one looking brand new and unused while the other is purposely created to be in a bad shape after having gone through some punishment at the hands of ED-209 and the Detroit police) so I'm not sure why anyone would want to switch the parts. Hot Toys die-cast RoboCop also comes with battle damaged parts (interchangeable battle damaged helmet and interchangeable battle damaged chest armor - pictures HERE) but even those "scars" are cleaner and shinier than the latest released battle damaged RoboCop. It would have been ideal if battle damaged RoboCop came with a helmeted head instead of just the one head with exposed face sculpt of Alex Murphy (Peter Weller).

The Hot Toys MMS266 1/6th scale RoboCop (Battle Damaged Version) seems to have the correct color application which is movie-accurate as compared to the Hot Toys die-cast RoboCop which is too silver for my liking. There has been some debate regarding the color of RoboCop's armor in the original 1987 film vs the color of Hot Toy's die-cast RoboCop figure and I even dedicated a post regarding this issue HERE. I have seen a more accurate paint application for Hot Toys die-cast RoboCop by an amazing and talented customizer Reeve Tan of Imperial Studio. You can check out the pictures HERE, along with other stunning customized works of his. We end up paying more for a die-cast figure which has a nice hefty feel because of its heavy weight but we all know Hot Toys have the talent to paint a regular MMS figure and make it look metallic as they have done in the past - see my "Comparison pictures of Hot Toys MMS202-D04 die-cast RoboCop with HT MMS010 & MMS032 RoboCop 12-inch Collectible Figures" post HERE. I always wonder if die-cast or the extra cost is really necessary...

He carried load of debts over the years; His wife divorced him and left with their daughter years ago. Living a miserable life did not lessen his gambling addiction by even the tiniest amount.

After kidnapping and killing Ogier’s girlfriend, the Ace of Hearts was hiding in this remote little bar with several trusted men. In the silent and cozy days, these men started gambling, and of course Marshall was part of it. Haunted by some sort of jinx, Marshall lost all the cash with him, so he betted with two days of night shifts outside. Incoming: ART Figures 1/6th scale Boy Black is 12-inch Vin Diesel as Riddick in Pitch Black

Pitch Black is a 2000 science fiction action/horror film co-written and directed by David Twohy. The film stars Vin Diesel, Radha Mitchell, Cole Hauser, and Keith David. Dangerous criminal Richard B. Riddick (Diesel) is being transported to prison in a spacecraft. When the spaceship is damaged by comet debris and makes an emergency crash landing on an empty desert planet, Riddick escapes. However, when predatory alien creatures begin attacking the survivors, Riddick joins forces with the surviving crew and other passengers to develop a plan to escape the planet.

Richard B. Check out this Kotobukiya Mass Effect 3 1/7th scale Tali'Zorah vas Normandy Bishoujo Statue

Tali'Zorah is a fictional character of the quarian alien race in BioWare's Mass Effect franchise, who serves as a party member (or "squadmate") in all three games in the Mass Effect trilogy. Within the series, she is a skilled technician and the daughter of Rael'Zorah, a member of the quarian judicial review Admiralty Board.

Tali is a quarian, one of a nomadic alien race driven from their homeworld by a race of software-based intelligences which they created, the geth. As a quarian, Tali must wear a full-body environmental suit due to her race's weaker immune systems, which also has the effect of hiding her physical appearance and facial features. Tali has been received positively, with placements on several "top character" lists, and is one of the more popular characters in the series.

This is Kotobukiya Mass Effect 3 Tali'Zorah Bishoujo Statue and will be made available February 2016. The prototype is shown here, as the base depicted does not represent the final product. I don't know much about the video game and Mass Effect but I am intrigued by this character's design and look.

Kotobukiya Marvel Now! Magneto ARTFX+ Statue is Magneto in totally different colors

One cannot talk about Professor X (see previous post) without bringing up Magneto as well. They are like the ying and yang when it comes to mutants. Once a friend of Professor X, leader of the X-Men, their different philosophies would cause a rift in their friendship. Magneto's role in comics has varied from supervillain to antihero to superhero, having served as an occasional ally and even a member of the X-Men at times.

Makes me wonder how different the Avengers films would have been if they were to face off against Magneto. Iron Man is practically all metal parts and Cap's shield is also magnetic. Both properties are owned by Marvel but since different studios have the movie rights, I guess we'll never know...

Sculpted by the same master artist who did the Marvel Now! Avengers series, Junosuke Abe, Magneto includes a magnetic display base (naturally). Join the master of magnetism with the previously announced Cyclops and Emma Frost (sold separately) and the rest of the X-Men team coming soon!

FigureMasters 1/6th Sir Patrick Stewart as Professor X 12-inch Collectible Action Figure

If Hot Toys isn't going to do it, then you can bet someone else will!

Hot Toys has only been churning out lots of 1:6 scale Hugh Jackman Wolverine / Logan 12-inch figures from the X-Men films - check out my toy blog post HERE to see the various 1:6 scale Wolverine figures released - but no Professor X 12-inch figure has yet to be seen.

Professor Charles Francis Xavier (also known as Professor X) is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics and is the founder and leader of the X-Men. Created by writer Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby, the character first appeared in The X-Men #1 (September 1963). Xavier is a member of a subspecies of humans known as mutants who are born with superhuman abilities. The founder of the X-Men, he himself is an exceptionally powerful telepath who can read and control minds of others.

Sir Patrick Stewart portrayed the character in five films of the X-Men film series and in various video games, while James McAvoy portrayed a younger version of the character in the 2011 prequel X-Men: First Class, with both actors reprising the role in the film X-Men: Days of Future Past.

This is FigureMasters 1/6th scale Sir Patrick Stewart as Professor X 12-inch Collectible Action Figure and the parts list includes: Real like head sculpt, Figure body, Suit, 2 pair of hands, Die-cast Wheelchair. This certainly looks like a sweet figure and would look real nice next to Wolverine.

Kitbash 1:6 scale Brad Pitt as WWII U.S. Army staff sergeant Don "Wardaddy" Collier 12" figure

This is my attempt at kitbashing a 1:6 scale Brad Pitt as WWII U.S. Army staff sergeant Don "Wardaddy" Collier 12-inch military figure. I managed to come across a 1/6th scale Brad Pitt head sculpt made to look like the character he portrayed in the 2014 American war film "FURY". In the movie, Brad Pitt is a battle-hardened U.S. Army staff sergeant in the 66th Armored Regiment, 2nd Armored Division named Don "Wardaddy" Collier who commands an M4 Sherman "Easy Eight" tank named Fury with all-veteran crew: gunner Boyd "Bible" Swan (Shia LaBeouf); loader Grady "Coon-Ass" Travis (Jon Bernthal); and driver Trini "Gordo" Garcia (Michael Peña).

Having received the head sculpt in the mail, I had to put together the rest of the parts to make the complete man / figure. So I got to finding the rest of the stuff from the stash I have in the house and this is what I came out with. You can check out my "Stash for Bash" toy blog post HERE where I covered a little on the 1:6 stuff needed for kitbashing. I'm pretty happy with this kitbashed Brad Pitt "Wardaddy" 12-inch figure from "FURY". I like it as much as the kitbashed 1:6 scale Daniel Craig as Tuvia Bielski from the 2008 film "Defiance" which I did back in 2008 - see my post HERE for pictures.

Preview Easy&Simple Item#26002 1/6th scale Black Operation Field Agent Langley 12" figure

"God will judge our enemies, we will arrange the meeting."

Langley is also a metonym for the Central Intelligence Agency, the civilian foreign intelligence agency of the U.S. Government, tasked with gathering, processing and analyzing national security information from around the world, primarily through the use of human intelligence (HUMINT). Unlike the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), which is an internal intelligence and security service, CIA has no domestic law enforcement function and is focused on overseas intelligence collection. Moreover, it is the only agency authorized to carry out and oversee covert action, unless the President finds that another agency is better suited for such operations. The CIA has increasingly taken on offensive roles, including covert paramilitary operations.

So with a name like Langley for this Black Operation Field Agent, there's no guessing which organization he belongs to. This upcoming release of Easy&Simple Item#26002 1/6th scale Black Operation Field Agent Langley 12-inch action figure will come with 1/6th scale Real like Head Sculpt, ES-Buddy 1.0 Body, Black FAST Ballistic Helmet, NVG Shroud, NVG Mount, AN/PVS-15 Night Vision Goggle, TAC POINT MPLS Light, Black Tactical Smock Jacket, Wolfgrey LEAF Gen2 Combat Pants, Black Duty Belt, 306 Assault Climbing Belt, Wolfgrey Cobra Ranger belt, VTAC Chest Rig Platform, Overlord Tactical Gloves, Zephyr Hiking Boots.
