continued from previous post...

Arnold Schwarzenegger is an actor who has also been a professional bodybuilder and politician (the Governator). Schwarzenegger began his acting career primarily with small roles in film and television. For his first film role, he was credited as "Arnold Strong", but was credited with his birth name thereafter. Schwarzenegger has acted in over thirty films, mainly in science fiction, action, and comedy films.

Schwarzenegger has been the primary character in two film franchises: as Conan in the Conan series and as The Terminator in the Terminator series. Other roles include John Matrix in Commando, Ben Richards in The Running Man, Major Alan "Dutch" Schrieffer in Predator, Douglas Quaid in Total Recall, Jack Slater in Last Action Hero and Harry Tasker in True Lies.

With the release of the most recent 1/6th scale Arnold Schwarzenegger 12-inch figure by Hot Toys - you can check out my action figure review of Hot Toys Movie Masterpiece Series MMS276 1/6th scale John Matrix Collectible Figure posted on my toy blog HERE and HERE - I thought I'll put some of the Arnold Schwarzenegger figures I have together for a group picture, just like what I've done previously for Batman (post HERE) and Indiana Jones (pictures HERE), among others.

The three figures you see in the picture above are Hot Toys released Arnold Schwarzenegger as T-800 Terminator figures from the Terminator series. There were other Arnold Schwarzenegger action figures released as well and you can see them all in this post.

Arnold Schwarzenegger starred as Conan the Barbarian in the 1982 film and followed that up with Conan the Destroyer in 1984. The 12-inch Conan figure in the picture above was released by Kaustic Plastik as part of their XXL Project Set 1: The Fantasy Warrior 1/6th scale fabric costume and accessories set. You can check out my review HERE.

In 1984, The Terminator starring starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Michael Biehn and Linda Hamilton, and directed by James Cameron was released. Though not expected to be a critical or commercial success, The Terminator topped the American box office for two weeks and massively helped launch the film career of Cameron and consolidate that of Schwarzenegger. The film received critical acclaim, with many praising its pacing and action scenes, and Schwarzenegger's role. Its success led to a franchise, consisting of films, a television series, comic books, and novels. The first sequel, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, was released in 1991.

The picture above is the Hot Toys MMS136 (Movie Masterpiece Series) 1/6th scale T-800 12-inch Collectible Figure from "The Terminator" movie which I have reviewed earlier HERE and HERE. The picture below is actually the very FIRST MMS figure Hot Toys ever released: Hot Toys MMS001 Battle Damaged T-800 with light-up eyes from 2005 with the head switched to the alternate head that came with Hot Toys MMS136 1/6th scale T-800 12-inch Collectible Figure. You can see more pictures HERE.

In 1985, the American action thriller film "Commando" was released with Arnold Schwarzenegger playing retired U.S. Army Special Forces Green Berets Colonel John Matrix who goes into full battle mode to rescue his kidnapped daughter. Picture below is that of Hot Toys Movie Masterpiece Series MMS276 1/6th scale John Matrix Collectible Figure from the "Commando" film.

In 1987, Arnold Schwarzenegger will again play a military figure in a movie but this time he would be Major Alan "Dutch" Schaeffer, leader of an elite special forces team, who are on a mission to rescue hostages from guerrilla territory in Central America in "Predator", a American science fiction action film. A full review of Hot Toys MMS72 (Movie Masterpiece Series) 1/6th scale collector's edition Major Alan "Dutch" Schaefer 12-inch figure from "Predator" can be viewed HERE

Here's a picture of the two 1/6th scale military themed Arnold Schwarzenegger 12-inch figures released by Hot Toys side by side. Major Alan "Dutch" Schaeffer is 30 cm tall whereas retired U.S. Army Special Forces Green Berets Colonel John Matrix is 32 cm tall. It used to be that all 1/6th scale figures were 12 inches tall (i.e. 6 feet in 1:1 scale) but recently Hot Toys has been releasing 1/6th scale figures with sizes matching the actual actor's heights, hence 32cm tall John Matrix. In this case Arnie got taller in 1/6th scale but Scarjo (Scarlett Johansson) got shorter - see my post HERE with comparison pictures of Hot Toys 1:6 scale Black Widow female action figures

Besides Major Alan "Dutch" Schaeffer, Hot Toys also released Collector's Edition MMS73 (Movie Masterpiece Series) 1/6th scale Private Billy Sole 12-inch Action Figure, also from the 1987 "Predator" film. Billy is reviewed HERE

In the picture below, you can see the difference between using a seamless body and a 12-inch figure body with visible joints. Hot Toys "G.I. Joe Retaliation" 1/6th scale Dwayne Johnson as Roadblock 12-inch tall Collectible Figure (reviewed HERE, HERE and HERE) comes with double-jointed elbows for better pose-ability but loses out in realism to Hot Toys Movie Masterpiece Series MMS276 1/6th scale John Matrix Collectible Figure when the arms are exposed.

In 1991, Arnold Schwarzenegger reprised his breakthrough role as the The Terminator / T-800 (Model 101) in "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" which was a critical and commercial success and influenced popular culture, especially the use of visual effects in films. The film's visual effects saw breakthroughs in computer-generated imagery, including the first use of natural human motion for a computer-generated character and the first partially computer-generated main character.

Pictured above and below right is Hot Toys MMS117 "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" 1/6th scale T-800 collectible figure which was released in 2010. See my review and pictures HERE and HERE

Here's a group picture of all the 1/6th scale Arnold Schwarzenegger 12-inch figures (most released by Hot Toys) I have in my collection. Be sure to click on the picture for a bigger and better view :)

Beautiful post. I miss some of those, but the one I most regret is the Terminator I Arny figure :( In any casi, I'm still waiting for the Arn - Old of Terminator Genesis, a polémique figure.

Awesome collection, IMO John Matrix Arnold has the best head sculpt so far, too bad HT didn't include a clean version, but the best body came from T2 T-800 Arnold with his more bodybuilder-like torso. I'm pretty underwhelmed by T:Genisys Arnold though, he's way past his prime as an action star, the look isn't iconic, and the movie's title blows(it's still on my to watch list). Plus my enjoyment of the franchise has been tainted by T:Salvation.
