Hot Toys Star Wars: The Force Awakens 1/6th First Order Flametrooper action figure Review II

continued from previous toy blog post...

"FLAME ON!"

Specialised stormtroopers of the First Order, flametroopers carry incendiary weapons that can transform any battlefield into a blazing inferno. When strategically deployed, flametroopers can deprive the enemy of safe cover by touching it, while supplying cover for friendly forces in the form of walls of fire that stormtrooper armor can withstand. In particularly dry and flammable environments, flametrooper deployment may lead to a quick and decisive victory, as the fires started by their weaponry grow to rapidly engulf any resistance.

This is the recently released highly-accurate ultra-detailed Hot Toys "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" 1:6 scale First Order Flametrooper 12-inch collectible figure, specially crafted based on the image of First Order Flametrooper in the latest Star Wars film. The figure comes with a flame effect accesory which adds a nice touch to the overall look of the figure when it is added. In this second part review, the flametrooper is shown with weapon raised (weapon in question is the D-93w Incinerator Flamethrower or double barrelled flame projector gun) and shooting flames out of the ignition chamber and barrel via the Peizoelectrical ignition system.

The Flametrooper's suit included a reinforced cyramech helmet with minimized openings, a narrow slit visor to reduce weapon glare, and supplemental breathing tank linkages. Other suit features included a temperature control body glove, integrated knee covers, heat deflecting armored gaiters, articulated greaves for greater foot movement, and positive grip boots. The backpack housed twin outer conflagrine-14 fuel tanks and a central pressurized propellant tank. The armored tankages worn by flametroopers contain extremely volatile flammable gel that is launched by a separate propellant gas. Both are mixed and ignited at the barrelhead of the projector gun and launched a distance of 75 metres, depending on local wind conditions.

Under most combat conditions, flametroopers are specialist units accompanied by standard stormtrooper infantry. The incendiary assault troopers are best deployed to flush out entrenched enemy positions, allowing the standard infantry to fire upon targets as they flee their cover. The standard infantry also serves as protection, guarding the flametroopers as they advance slowly and methodically, as it would be unwise to outrun the advance of the blaze unleased by their flamethrower.

Due to the tight body glove (black under-suit) worn under the armor, the figure is very much restricted in its movements and articulation, much like the earlier released Hot Toys First Order Stormtrooper figure (you can check out the review posted on my toy blog HERE and HERE). The black body glove is made up of a mixed material of leather (for the lower body i.e. legs) and rubber (for the upper body / neck and arms) parts which is most movie-accurate but impedes the figure's articulation quite a bit, especially the leather clad legs. Despite that, it is still a nice addition to the troops and I couldn't ask for anything else. The quality and finishing are top notch, as can be expected coming from Hot Toys.

The backpack houses twin outer conflagrine-14 fuel tanks and a central pressurized propellant tank. The propellant pressure indicator / gauge looks to be out of place since one wouldn't expect to see something like this in the advanced technological age of the Star Wars universe. But then again, a look at the Millennium Falcon (Rey called it "garbage" at one point LOL) puts all arguments to rest. Compared to the sleek ships of the First Order and the Empire before them, the Millennium Falcon proved the point that one shouldn't judge a book by its cover.

Check out the First Order Flametrooper's reinforced cyramech helmet with minimized openings, a narrow slit visor to reduce weapon glare, and supplemental breathing tank linkages. It's rather similar to that worn by the Snowtrooper (check out the action figure review of Hot Toys Star Wars TFA 1/6th scale First Order Snowtrooper 12-inch collectible figure posted HERE and HERE)
